It was champagne all round at Channel 4 Headquarters this week as one of their reality programmes actually served a purpose and someone actually purchased something.
Dave and Angela,a lovely couple from Dorset, second marriages both of them and no kids,had quite a lot of money to spend on their dream home in the sun.
What normally happens on these programmes is we sit and watch as the lovely couples each week get trawled around 5 properties that the expert presenter (or tired old has been,depending which show you are watching) thinks they might like.
They usually return to the first one they viewed,have an argument with the 'expert',and as always, nothing ever gets resolved or purchased.We the viewers at home then look at each other,have a little argument about what another waste of time that was,admit that is another hour of our lives we'll never get back and turn over.
Every version of this format is the same.Why then, do we watch is the cry?
Because just when you've given up hope, along come Angela and Dave. Cheers!
