'What have The Church of Scientology, Twitter, Facebook, Sarah Palin, Swiss Bank Post Finance, Mastercard, Visa and BP got in common?' asked my anonymous friend.
'Well, some are mad, some are rich and powerful, some are against free speech' I suggested.
'True. But what they all have in common is that they have been "inconvenienced" by anonymous forces on the internet.'
'Oh that' I said realising I was in the presence of someone with a finger on someone's throat. 'Well, I'm not a supporter of the Church of Scientology or Sarah Palin, although I am not sure if I could distinguish one from the other' I explained 'I have not indulged in Tweets or been near a Swiss Bank. I want to get out of Facebook but can't be bothered to go through the 109 hour procedure to get out, like 333 million others. Mastercard is not my card. But I have to confess I have bought petrol from a BP garage - but NO MORE and I have a Visa Card. This last is a real problem. Life would be difficult without it.'
'You get nine out of ten, which is better than most. We are primarily interested in those who support all those named. They are against a free and open internet. We are of a generation that will not allow authorities to preach to us anymore.'
'OK OK. Look I'll try and warn all my Spoof friends about this. I doubt if there are any of them who score zero but I also doubt if any of them gets full marks. Will that leave Spoof off your list of targets?'
But he had gone, shooting into the atmosphere, on the trail of another transgressor.
