The headline caught this writer's eye: "Corrie Postponed again as a result of attack". Living in Canada now, we are about 10 months behind in episodes.
I panicked! Thinking a cast member had been attacked I couldn't get to the article, on line, quickly enough. I've followed the show since it's very first black and white episode. Yes, I am getting 'on in years'.
I have, tucked away in my 'memory box' signed photos by Peter Adamson, William Roache, Dennis Tanner (can't remember his real name) Jerry Booth (can't remember his real name either, plus he wrote me a 2 page letter. Aw!) and many other favourites, all long gone from The Street.
Historical note: William Roache is the ONLY original cast member left in the show.
I was relieved to read the reasons for the postponement. No one on set has been injured, in real life, but the producers etc., feeling for the victims of the Cumbria Shooting Massacre, have in their wisdom, chosen not to air episodes with contain 'shooting' at this sensitive time.
That is a wise move for the sake of the victims, their friends and families but NOW I know that Tony ends up in jail.....no problem, I thought, that's where he belonged anyway. I just have to watch for months now to find out how he ends up there. I know I can go online to find out, but what the heck. I rush hope every day to watch Corrie. One of the 'highlights' of my days.
Returning for a 3-week visit, to England, in August, I'll be all screwed up with the story line anyway, as I'll be watching up-to-date episodes with the Brits. and be left wondering what happened in the ten-month gap. People don't have time to bring me up-to-date when an episode comes on 'the telly' because if they DO then they'll miss the 'goings on' on screen. Talking is only allowed during commercials when 'Corrie' is on. You take your life into your hands if you speak during the show!
YOU are confused? I don't only suffer from jet-lag when I fly 'over 'ome' and back, I suffer from CORRIE LAG, which, believe you me, is MUCH WORSE!!
