There has been a distinctly low key reaction in the entertainment world to the news that Phil Collins has announced his retirement from the music business.
The former Genesis drummer , who carved out a successful solo career with albums such as '....But Seriously' and 'No Jacket Required', is giving up music to concentrate on raising his 2 young children.
There has been no rush by ex colleagues to pay tribute to the 60 year old, no explosion of best wishes or testimonials on social networking sites.
At time of going to print, both BBC and Sky had stated that there were no plans in the pipeline to produce a documentary of his life or his career in music.
Even Collins' current partner Blanche Lillywhite seemed underwhelmed by the news : "Its up to him. Doesn't put me up nor down. I thought he'd retired a few years ago anyway".
