Johnny Depp has quashed claims that his portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney's Pirates Of The Caribbean was a ground-breaking performance and that it showed his versatility as an actor.
Depp was nominated for an Oscar following his widely acclaimed lead role in the pirates trilogy.
The quirky actor told reporters, "I essentially tried to fuse the characteristics of a raging homosexual and a guy with downs syndrome, when playing Captain Jack".
He went on to say, "The only thing I deserve credit for, is sleeping with multiple men and frequently soiling myself. These are both things that I have previously tried to avoid doing, but felt they were essential as part of my research".
Depp begins filiming the fourth Pirates movie next year.
