A slew of great movies is being introduced this upcoming holiday season, but none are as anticipated as the remake of the great 1971 cult classic, Harold and Maude. The original movie starred Ruth Gordon and Bud Cort and is still quite popular today with the "goth" crowd. This time around, Betty White will play the character Maude, and Justin Bieber will play her smitten beau, Harold.
The film pretty much follows the original story line, that of a young, rich boy obsessed with death who meets Maude, a 70-something firecracker, at a funeral. A friendship ensues and culminates in Harold asking Maude to marry him, albeit a little too late.
"Justin is simply phenomenal as Harold," claims Betty White. "I thought the kissing scenes would be awkward, but to tell you the truth, that little guy really knows his stuff."
And Justin was just as complimentary of Betty White. "At first," he said, "I felt kind of icky reading the script and didn't know if I could do a movie like this. I mean, come on man, they wanted me to kiss someone as old as my great grandma. But Betty was so understanding. She took her time with me. She is a real professional, if you know what I mean," he said with a sly wink.
The movie is expected out in time for the holidays and has been given an "R" rating for mature audiences. "What does that mean?" said Bieber when asked about the rating. "I think it means you may be surprised to see this little goody two-shoes become a man right before your very eyes."
But then again the producers claim that is the story line, is it not?
