Mel Gibson had a wild ride similar to his adventure movies Saturday night in Los Angeles. Of course, like most of his adventures off screen lately, he wound up in jail and was not allowed to be bailed out until he at least spent one day behind bars.
"Maybe he'll be sober by tomorrow and we'll let him out", officer Chase Goodley told the friend who came in at 2AM to bail Mel out of the tank one more time.
"We simply don't trust him until he's sober again. Come back in the morning. He's asleep now anyway."
One reason Officer Goodley didn't want Mel Gibson out Saturday night was because his friend & fellow cop Gonzales had already chased him down and caught him three times.
Mel apparently left a bar at about 10PM and was driving straight but very slow and that made a patrol officer suspicious.
"That usually means they're trying to dodge the police", stated Officer Gonzales. "But when I pulled him over, he wasn't all that drunk. Just under the breathalyzer, so I warned him to drive just as he was and to go home without drinking anymore."
Apparently, the fact that he was pulled over while driving slow eventually made Mad Max mad.
So he turned around and headed back to the bar.
At 11:45PM, Gonzales caught Mel doing 90 and weaving all over the highway. This time he was mad and insulting Latinos so while Gonzales went over to Mel's car to lock it for the toll truck to come, Gibson did a movie-type Houdini act and drove away in Gonzales police car.
Back to the police station and the friend coming back to bail out Mel, Third shift Officer Goodley told them to hurry.
"Officer Gonzales is due in at noon so please go home before he sees you. His patrol car was a mess."
