Bosses at Channel 5 have been encouraged by rising viewing figures for US cop "procedural" CSI:Miami.
As we reported last month (August 18) there was panic at the station as the show slumped in the ratings. Season eight had been subject to several changes in production values, bosses claimed, which were turning viewers off in their millions.
But channel heads were pleased by episode eight, aired last night, which demonstrated a return to form.
Said a C5 insider: "Right from the start we could see improvements. Horatio Caine entered the crime scene in slo-mo and Roger Daltrey's 'Yeaaaaah' hit at just the right beat. OK, Horatio hadn't uttered a pithy one-liner, but it was a return to the old ways.
"We're not too sure about Tripp and Wolf taking Wellington boots with them to a wet crime scene - but let's see where it goes. We are a lot happier this morning."
One thing we learned from the show last night: stay well clear of box jellyfish!
