Everyone knows that the reality television show Dancing with the Stars isn't about dancing anymore but more about the controversial celebrities the show can get for upcoming seasons. This next season is going to be a lollapalooza, they say. Although he hasn't officially accepted yet, Mel Gibson is considering DWTS' offer for him to be on the show as Anna Trebunskaya's partner.
One issue that has to be hammered out is the fact that Trebunskaya is Russian and right now, Mel isn't too keen on Russian women. However, the show's producers claim that Trebunskaya is definitely not a gold digger and therefore no threat to Gibson's estate. At the same time, it is no accident that they paired Gibson with a Russian woman. The only way to get people to watch Dancing with the Stars is to create controversy and even if Anna Trebunskaya doesn't do a thing to provoke Mel on the show, he's still going to have a bad taste in his mouth because of Oksana Grigorieva, and that is going to have people tuning in to see what happens.
New censoring equipment has been installed on the stage that will hopefully catch every cuss word Mel utters at Anna. In addition, Anna has been asked to sign a waiver affirming that she will not sue Mel Gibson or the producers of the show for the names she will inevitably be called every week when something doesn't go Gibson's way.
The funny thing about all this is the fact that Mel has no clue that being asked to dance on Dancing with the Stars is like a kick in the teeth for any big name star. No one above a B-rating has ever really starred on the show. We're talking Donnie and Marie Osmond, Kate Gosselin, for cripes sakes. But if he is going to get back in the good graces of his fans, he's going to have to do the show and keep his mouth shut about it. This could be the best upcoming season ever-for the show, and the worst for Mel Gibson.
