Kate or Kathie Lee? Can You Tell the Difference?

New York, NY - A Kathie Lee Gifford fan got quite a rude awakening this past weekend when she received a verbal dressing down from Kate Gosselin in what bystanders called an honest mistake.

Said Soozie Swipper, "I had just gotten out of my book club meeting and was walking down the street Saturday morning, when I ran into whom I believed to be the fabulous Kathie Lee Gifford. I had to stop her to meet her, so I touched her on the arm and said "sorry to bother you, Kathie, but I wonder if I could get your autograph," she looked kinda puzzled and said, "Kathie?" I said yea, aren't you Kathie Lee Gifford?"

Swipper continued, "As soon as she took her sunglasses off, I knew I was in deep doo doo. I was standing in front of a somewhat unhappy Kate Gosselin. There was no mistaking that face. I'd seen it a few times on Dancing with the Stars. I began to apologize, when she laid into me. 'Kathie Lee Gifford? Kathie Lee Gifford? Do I look freakin' old to you lady?'" Swipper apologized profusely as a crowd began to form.

Later, when asked how she could have made the mistake, Swipper said, "I couldn't really tell. She had sunglasses on, and I'd just got finished watching Kathie Lee Gifford's Christmas Special for the 8th time and well, I guess I had stars in my eyes. It was an honest mistake. She didn't have to get all up in my face. Once she cooled off a bit, she did give me her autograph without being asked to."

Reportedly, Kate finally calmed down and apologized for the knee-jerk reaction. She then half-smiled and asked where the hidden cameras were, believing that she'd been Punk'd by Ashton Kutcher. No one had the heart to tell her that Punk'd has been off the air for almost 3 years.

Eventually Gosselin admitted that she actually liked Kathie Lee Gifford and was flattered that all her hard work to make herself look like a star was beginning to pay off. Kate joked, "Heck, I should be flattered that someone recognized me as a star. In this case, I'll gladly take sloppy seconds, I guess."

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
