"I like to share my bath..."

NEW YORK (AP) Hotel heiress Paris Hilton revealed a short list of her favorite hotels. "You might think that I would choose to stay only at those swanky Hilton hotels wherever I go. It's true that I get a complimentary room at most Hilton's, but I like staying in some other great hotels from time to time," said Paris Hilton. "Take the Hotel 31 situated down on 31st Street and Lexington… with a bus stop right on the corner and only two blocks from the subway. I just love the quaint rooms with the shared baths… you never know who you might get to share a bath with. The cable TV channels, room air conditioners and vending machines make me feel right at home."

"As you can imagine, I go to Amsterdam very often," said Paris Hilton. "My favorite little hotel there is the Galerij Hotel. I love the bedspreads, and the food is great too."

"Let's face it: the short walk to Amsterdam's Red Light District is a very positive feature for me… and with Madame Tusaud's just a few steps away, my entertainment is complete. The Anne Frank House is also close by, but I wouldn't be caught dead going to such a dreadful place."

In the United States, Paris Hilton makes a lot of cross-country drives in her rusty old '88 Subaru wagon. "I always make it a point to plan my driving so that I get to stay for the night at The Old Rooming House in Harmony, Indiana." rooming house.jpg

"They always loan me a free bicycle so I can get in a little exercise while I ride along the Wabash River. Although the rooms at the Old Rooming House have no TV or radio, they do have nice collections of board games, Viewmasters to look through, old books and neat travel memorabilia from the 1940's. You just can't get that kind of treatment when you stay at one of those fancy Hilton hotels. Maybe some day I'll take my hotel inheritance and open up a string of rooming houses!"
