RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - In the land of mosques, Islam, Ramadan, two-humped camels, and the Abajad numeral 786, has now emerged a national phenomenon.
Four young Muslim individuals have joined to form the world's first Muslim rap band. The four, all in their early 20s, call themselves Camel Carl & The Desert Rag Headz.
The rap band is made up of Abdul Hamazad, a camel washer who goes by the name of Camel Carl; Chazi Mubashir, a mosque gardener; Habis Rizwan, a fast food restaurant assistant manager; and Mekka Tahseen, an unemployed dentist.
The four individuals say that they hope that they become famous so that they can each quit their meager jobs, except of course for Tahseen who is unemployed.
When asked how the name for their rap band came about Abdul replied that he was visiting his grandmother Mustafina Profellah in her home in Taquiabad. He let her listen to his iPod and she especially liked a song recorded by Kanye West entitled, "Yo Mutha Effer."
Grandma Musty, as her grandkids call her, liked it and in the song West mentioned the name Chump Carlos & The Detroit Crack Headz. Grandma Musty just changed the words around a little bit and came out with Camel Carl & The Desert Rag Headz.
The four members of Camel Carl & The The Desert Rag Headz will embark on an 18 city concert tour of Great Britain.
Their first scheduled performance will be at Pimlico's Camilla Parker-Bowles Auditorium. From there they will travel to Ipswich for a sold-out performance at The English Leather Arena.
The British hip hop band, Blokes 2 Chaps from Liverpool will be the opening act.
In other news. Dick Cheney has just published his first book. It is entitled "Hey If You Don't Friggin' Like Me Then Don't Buy My Effen Book."
