Season three winner of American Idol, Fantasia Barrino, is set to star in her own, new reality series. The show, "Why You Should Watch Me And Not Adam Lambert," is set to debut on MTV on January 15th.
This new reality series will focus on the hard times that Barrino has faced since winning American Idol. It will include her affairs with married men, her losing her million dollar home due to financial mismanagement, and her learning how to use birth control and speak without using ebonics.
Fantasia became famous on American Idol for taking every song and "making it her own." On Country week, she took a country standard and sang it in her own unintelligible r&b style. On Classical week, she took a classical standard and sang it in her own unintelligible r&b style. She did the same thing for Barry Manilow week, Beatles week, Gregorian chants week, Anything but R&B week, and all other themed weeks of the show.
Al Sharpton and the Reverend Jessie Jackson have both stated that this new reality series will "focus on a great American woman and her struggle to better herself in a world run by the oppressive white man."
Ratings are expected to be really bad and the show should be cancelled after three episodes, though eight have been filmed to avoid charges of racism.
Upon seeing a preview of the show, Simon Cowell used the words "bloody awful" and "ghastly." Randy Jackson said that it was "the dawg....no, not the good kind, but a real dawg...arf arf kind of dawg."
