Sir Elton John, aged 62, is pregnant with his first child.
Said a spokesperson for the singer: "Vow! This is super great! Elton and his husband, David Furnish, are over the moon. This is a dream come true for both of them."
It is understood that Sir Elton has had a womb transplanted into his abdomen at a Rome clinic six months ago and has been receiving fertility treatment since.
The pregnancy explains why the singer has canceled several concerts in the States and the United Kingdom.
"He is as well as can be expected of a 62-year-old woman pregnant for the first time. He does however have a craving for ice cream and, strangely, he must sit in a tub filled with McCantDo ices when he's eating it," said the spokesperson.
The baby, conceived in the normal way, is due on April 1 next year.
The couple plan to launch a website where Sir Elton's fans will be able to watch the fetus' progress and eventually also the birth.
