According to the latest "confirmed" rumor, Bella Swan will have a new antagonist in Twilight: Eclipse, as Bryce Dallas Howard will be replacing Rachelle Lefevre as the Bella-hating Victoria in next year's third installment.
Rachelle's exit from the franchise was attributed to scheduling conflicts. She told reporters that her moving on "was definitely not because of any real-life relationship with Kristen Stewart that mirrors the one onscreen, or due to an emotional love triangle that sounds sensational and sells magazines."
Regardless of what caused the shift, this makes her the first major cast member to leave in the middle of the planned series.
"The Canadian actress will be doing her 'bite' for the last time in New Moon, which starts rolling up the the winter box office receipts on November 20th.
Although the character portrayed by Rachelle was one hated by most Twilight fans, it simply shows how great a job she was doing as "Victoria".
Meanwhile her replacement, Bryce Dallas Howard, should do a great job in this role.
"We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise," Erik Feig, president of Worldwide Production and Acquisitions for Summit Entertainment, said in a statement released to the press Tuesday morning.
So forget Lefevre when you're reading or rereading the book and think of Howard. In Eclipse, due out next year, she will be the one who seduces the vampire Riley.
