Most savvy people in the industry say that Michael Jackson made the career move of a lifetime two weeks ago by dying.
"Nobody was paying much attention to Michael lately, even though he was still doing some pretty weird stuff to get reporters to take a look but with the Swine Flu, the Paris Hilton, Lindsay airhead competition and rockets going up in North Korea and Iran's streets full of protesters, there is just too much for newshounds to take in," stated one of Jackson's publicity agents.
What Jackson did was to outdo every one of them by dying!
Sure there was the David Carradine, Farrah Fawcett distractions but they just weren't anywhere in Jackson's league.
So now Michael Jackson's albums are at the top of the charts and his family and agents will not allow him to get out of the news. (For instance, the three bucks I got for doing this one.) The albums will be the best sellers for the year and then there will be all those "Best Of" and "Bootlegs" that will keep him at #1 for a long time.
Next he will replace Elvis Presley who has been the #1 best seller after death in every year since his death except a couple of years. Maybe, Curt Cobain his death year?".
Most of us think Jackson will replace Elvis permanently as it'll take ten years for the King of Rock to come back after the King of Pop and by then, the boomers will mostly be pushing up daisies.
So congratulations Michael. I was never a fan of the songs but the dances were great. Bet those will be out on video soon too.
