Zac Efron has apparently decided to drop the musicals and do some more serious acting. He's even considering dropping girlfriend, Vanessa, because every time they are seen together people will link them together as in "High School Musical".
Zac has already had quite a year and a half. He's received good reviews for "Me and Orson Welles," and "17 Again," and proved to have a lot of staying power at the box office with his accomplishing it against "X-Men Origin: Wolverine,"
Zac surprised a lot of people, including his fans, when he dropped out of "Footloose", but he's eager to take on more mature roles, and making good progress by joining projects such as "The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zac is continuing his movie maturation by landing the lead part in an untitled thriller.
"I'm ready to move on from here", Efron told the Screen Sirens Special Issue. "I still care for Vanessa and she knows that. We're trying to establish our careers. But we haven't broken up or anything, no matter what the fanzines say.
The movie people I'm talking to sound like just what I need, a serious adult role. That's why I turned down 'Footloose' which would have been fun."
After asking around, the Sirens staff say there simply IS no title for the "Sexy Thriller" but with Zac and some others that did not want to be mentioned at the present, and we agreed, say to look for a big announcement soon.
Before the interview with Zac was finished, he wanted to be sure that we knew that he was in love with Vanessa. That nothing had changed except they were going about their careers and needed some time to work some things out. "Why rush?" he asked.
