A young Amish boy last night emerged as the star of 'Pennsylvania's Got Talent', and immediately became a firm favourite to win the talent show.
For 8 year old Samuel Heiser from Lancaster County it must have been daunting experience taking to the stage after a wild turkey juggler and a Quaker unicycle troupe. However, he didn't appear to have any nerves as he stood in front of the judges, straw hat in hand, and told them his name.
When Piers Morgan asked him what he was going to do and he replied, "Raise a barn, sir." you could sense the amusement amongst the audience. Morgan himself was smiling as he said, "OK. In your own time, Samuel."
Minutes later they were all on their feet clapping and cheering at this small figure nailing the roof on his barn. David Hasselhoff was clearly holding back the tears as he told Samuel it was the most inspirational act he'd seen in years.
Samuel's part in the show has sent the internet into a frenzy and he's already had over 100 million hits on YouTube. Celebrities have been queuing up to add their praise, and Harrison Ford is talking up a 'Witness' sequel.
The shows producer, Simon Cowell, is rumoured to be offering a video deal, with Samuel constructing a variety of wooden outbuildings to a soundtrack from The Carpenters.
