The Algarve sleuths have so far got through roughly $8 million in international donations to come up with exactly the same evidence as Portuguese police, ie zero.
But Kate and Gerry McCann believe that such 'minor setbacks' are well worth the trawl of American hearts and minds as financial donations in UK and Europe reach a new rockbottom.
"Maybe the reckon to pump Oprah for a few mill of her hard-won $$$s," McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell sighed hopefully today.
"This circus could go on for at least another ten years."
