The most original situation comedy ever is to be revived, a spokesperson for NBC told a delighted world today. But, he warned, there will be one or two differences.
The first thing people will notice is that Jerry Seinfeld, the previous eponymous star of the show, is no longer a member of the cast. Instead, the world's number one tennis star Roger Federer is to take the lead.
Federer, or Fedz as he now insists on being called, decided to make this move after talking to jailbird OJ Simpson - who seemed to have successfully moved on from professional sport until a couple of minor domestic problems made national news and ended his incipient entertainment career.
"As a brand I have to keep re-inventing myself" Fedz told this website. "That's why I cannot be one woman guy - as Maria understands. The same goes for my career - I can't be a tennis star for the rest of time, so I need to start developing now as a comedy legend."
Tim Henman was unavailable for comment about rumours that he has accepted the part of Sergeant Wilson in a remake of popular British sitcom Dad's Army.
