50 Cent, the controversial rapper, has decided it was time to upgrade his name. "Yo, wif' inflation, my peeps decided I should change my name to A Buck-fifty, yo." He announced today from the balcony of his new presidential palace in Hatey. (For related info on that, see our own Spoof story.)
The newly named rapper is going to put out a new cd announcing the change. It'll be called, Making 'Change and will be out when Venus aligns with Pluto.
His publicist's sister-in-law did not say if the name change is a result of 50's recent comments about homosexuals, appearing in a Playboy article next month.
"Shoot man, no one read Playboy for the articles, so 50 didn't change because of that. He just figured that it was time to show himself some respect and pick a name worthy of his status within the music industry." A street performer, who wasn't homeless, said yesterday.
Repeated attempts (well, two or three) to reach A Buck Fifty's homeys yielded no results. However, the artist formerly known as Prince who changed to symbols and is now known as Prince again had this advice for the young rapper, "Keep it simple. The more you confuse your fans, the less likely they are to buy your CDs. Believe me."
