PASADENA ('American Bitch' Staff Writer) - The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals is poised to hear a custody case that's brewing between Ellen DeGeneres and a dog-adoption agency calling itself 'Mutts & Moms'.
Ms. DeGeneres claims that "Iggy", a Brussels Griffon Terrier mix, now belongs to the family of her hairdresser. Initially she had agreed to adopt the pooch as her own until she found him to be unmanageable.
Meanwhile, the co-owners of 'Mutts & Moms' sent a repo man to seize the controversial canine back -- citing a clause in the original contract that specified Ellen and her mate would be the pet's guardians.
The only precedent for this type of case was seven years ago, when then-Attorney General Janet Reno ordered that Elián González (a six-year-old Cuban boy) be handed back over to his father. Current nominee for US Attorney General, Michael Mukasey, has refused to comment on the "Iggy" case. However, he has reserved the right to intervene if necessary.
