Los Angeles, California - (DumbBlonde Mess): Britney Spears' first solo album in four years entitled Psychotic Episode is to be released on Halloween next month.
Studio bosses had originally pencilled in the working title Blackout.
But the singer's agent insisted this "sounded too much like classic alcoholic amnesia" which would have focused on too narrow a niche market.
The title refers to what Britney has claimed was the real reason behind her disastrous marriage to Kevin Federline from whom she is now divorced.
Spears' comeback single Gimmick More is currently No 3 in the US singles chart.
Its success has being attributed solely to the star's curiosity value after an entertainment poll found she'd become a "poster child for music industry corruption".
But some critics have panned the single and said a better title would have been "Desperado".
