The L.A. paparazzi were thrown into a feeding frenzy following Britney Spears' secret late night appointment at a sleazy back street tattoo parlour.
The troubled star has apparently been hitting the bottle after splitting with Kevin Federline and it was at the end of a booze fuelled session that the sex goddess decided to get tattooed.
The 25 year old star was accompanied by her 16 year old sister, Jamie - Lynn and moral guardians have expressed concern that the teenager was being set a bad example.
However, insiders have suggested that the sisters purpose in visiting the tattoo parlour to redesign a tattoo that Britney had done to show her love for her ex-husband.
The exact description of Britney's new tattoo remains a mystery in spite of dogged attempts to get a photograph.
Sources close to the star have intimated, however, that the design of the tattoo looks rather similar to the logo of the highly successful satirical British on-line website called 'The Spoof'.
The management of 'The Spoof' were not prepared to comment on the veracity of the rumours.
