New York City -- Marie Antoinette, decked out in a new outfit and a new head, came back to earth to review the movie bearing her name.
Appearing at an impromptu news conference in Times Square, she gave the movie two thumbs up. Ms. Antoinette cut quite a figure. Her stunning black gown was created by Vera Wang; her beautiful white head (adorned in a deluxe wig of flowing platinum curls) was provided by Parisian Body Parts.
She said it was a dirty rotten lie that she had ever uttered the words, "Let them eat cake." To make sure that everyone got the point, she unveiled a huge sheet cake decorated with a scene from Versailles and urged onlookers to partake. "Let US eat cake," she announced with a flourish. A few minutes later she disappeared into the night to meet French President Jacques Chirac (who happened to be visiting New York) for a late-night drink at Tavern on the Green in Central Park.
