Vigilante watchdog TV Repair Man has promised "radical action" following news that Mark Wright is to front a new game show based on a German format.
Former The Only Way Is Essex star Wright has been selected by ITV to be the host of My Man Can.
The show will pit four women against each other as they bet on how successfully their partners can complete challenges including smashing windows with footballs and eating chilli peppers.
My Man Can was created by German company ProSiebenSat.1 Media and has been a hit in Germany, Belgium and Spain. ITV plan to air the British version in a prime-time slot.
A communiqué issued today by the shadowy TV Repair Man organisation read: "Things have come to a pretty pass when British TV producers are so bereft of ideas they have to buy in from Germany - the internationally recognised home of funny!
"This latest demonstration of ineptitude follows shortly after the news that the BBC has cancelled one of the highest quality shows on the schedules, Total Wipe Out. Producers, schedulers and commissioners have clearly lost the plot.
"And what's with using the smug twerp Wright?
"We shall be taking radical action."
