Fans of hit TV sleuth show Midsomer Murders are up in arms today as their favourite series seems to have gone missing.
Without a European Champions League match to show in their prime time 8pm to 10pm slot, ITV would normally be expected to screen an episode of the popular show featuring DCI John Barnaby.
But tonight, fans have been surprised to see their favourite replaced by dusty old relic, Foyle's War, starring Royal Shakespeare Company alumnus, Michael Kitchen.
"It's a bloody disgrace is what it is," said Chair of the Midsomer Madness fan club Mr Nils Bohr, who says he is no relation to the celebrated Danish theoretical physicist.
"No football - it should be Barnaby and that lovely wife of his and the excellent Sykes, the Jack Russell. We need more bizarre murder and mayhem when there's no poncey overpaid footballers on the screen.
"Foyle and his musty old World War Two murderes just don't cut the mustard.
"Bring back Barnaby!"
