Though she was in exclusive LA where the show was aired live, Rihanna did not appear at the 2012 People's Choice Awards held at the Nokia Theater in LA. Very shocking, indeed! She chose instead to sit court-side at the Miami Heat vs. LA Lakers game at the Staples Center, eating popcorn, singing and signing autographs.
Norma Corninolis interviewed Rihanna about nixing the PCA's:
"Ya babes, I don't do dos gigs too much. I needed to get my big Lakers fix on like right away. You know I saw that big bootie Kardishian chick at the game. I did not know she is a white momma! She says to me, 'Girrrl why you don't have your sweet brown sugar ass on dat stage there getting your award.' I says, Why you not der Kimmie? An she says, ' 'My hair got messed up and needed a blow and that takes hours to do just right and somehow I got totally wound up and here I am honey child.' She is so sweet that big bootie momma."
