NEW YORK CITY - Mayor Bloomberg has finally announced what up until now had only been a rumor and that is that effective January 15, 2012, every yellow taxi-cab in the five New York City boroughs will be pained green.
The mayor informed a crowd of news reporters that he had decided to do this for several reasons. One he said that he has always wanted to do something to show his appreciation for the great Irish population that inhabits the Big Apple.
He said he realizes that the fabulous St. Patrick's Day Celebration that takes place every year is great, but he still wants to go the extra mile and what better way than to paint the thousands of New York taxi-cabs Kelly green.
The mayor also mentioned to one of his assistants, unbeknownst to him that there was an open mic that caught his words, that he had also gotten sick and damn tired of the canary colored yellow cabs and he was thrilled to change their freakin' color.
The mayor was told that there is a group of individuals in Brooklyn who are planning to picket city hall with signs that say "Hey youse, we wanna da yellow cabs ta stay yellow," "Yellow is mellow, green is mean," and "First the yellow cabs go green and then the red fire trucks will go purple - that's the way a monarchy always starts!"
Bloomberg laughed and said that the anti-green cab group can picket till there faces turn green. He grinned as he said, "Pun intended."
