Troubled building society the Bradford & Bingley is to undergo something of an image change, after a team of consultants advised that the company should change its name to the Bingley & Bradford to restore consumer confidence.
After it was reported last month that neither of the owners, Mr Bradford and Mr Bingley, had been seen since 1999, shares in the organisation plummeted, causing residents in the two West Yorkshire towns to jump ship and invest in the Leeds Permanent instead.
Now though, after an expensive six-week audit from Financial Consultants Bleed & Obviers, the society hopes to limit any further losses, and to attract its former customers from rivals.
Said consultant Marcus Drivel:
"Sometimes all that is needed is a small change, like that in the case of B&B. They don't even have to change their initialled letterheads. We're still going to make them pay through the nose for the advice though."
