Crown Imports LLC reported in a press release today that it has signed an agreement with Republican Ron Paul. Paul will become the company spokesman for its St. Pauli Girl line of beers.
This follows on yesterday's announcement of a deal between Anheuser-Busch and the Bush family, but the deal is not as comprehensive. While the Bush deal covers a number of family members and a few different brands, the Crown Imports deal involves only Ron Paul and the St. Pauli Girl brand - though there are three different drinks in the line.
On the bright side for Dr. Paul, the deal will pay a substantial sum of money. While full terms were not disclosed, analysts say that the deal is worth $50 million over three years. Crown spokesman Bill Ligas raved about the deal: "Ron Paul has a following, and they are the right demographic for St. Pauli Girl."
Separately, Crown announced a deal with Mona Gillen, better known as the "Ron Paul Girl" for her videos on the internet where she strips for Ron Paul, or just to get attention. It worked, as Gillen will take home $500,000 to play the St. Pauli Girl in commercials with the congressman.
