Washington D.C. (CNN) - Following the logic of the "path to citizenship" for illegal immigrants Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer and Harry Reid have proposed legislation to free most of the criminals in American prisons today.
Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi explains "…illegal immigrants break our laws and cross our borders due to their desire for a better life and to become American citizens. In the same respect most criminals break our laws to improve their lives due to their desire to become wealthy. Thus, what we as a nation need to do is not punish these people but help these ambitious go-getters to become wealthy so they'll stop breaking our laws".
"This is not amnesty" insists Senator Barbara Boxer "similar to the 'path to citizenship' this is merely a convenient 'forgetting' of our laws until the burglars and robbers are wealthy and no longer need to break our laws to become wealthy".
Senator Harry Reid added "we don't believe this legislation will encourage others to become criminals just to get rich. Who in their right mind would break the law just so they could be let out of prison and helped down the path to riches?"
