Hilton Hotels announced today that it is renaming several of its French hotels as part of its internet marketing strategy. In the most notable change, the Hilton Paris will be renamed the Paris Hilton.
CEo Stephen Bollenbach expressed frustration within the company over the number of potential customers that may be lost when they search for Paris Hilton on the web and the company's prominent hotel does not even make the first page. On a search for Hilton Paris, by contrast, the company's leading property in the city of lights is the #1 result on most search engines. Since far more people search for Paris Hilton instead of Hilton Paris, the company feels it is losing substantial business.
The company actually has 5 hotels in greater Paris. The others will also be renamed, and also with an eye to internet searches, and features will be added to fit with the new names. The Hilton Arc de Triomphe will be renamed Paris Hilton Nude, and will feature statues of the celebrity in various stages of undress. The Hilton Paris La Defense will become the Paris Hilton Sex Tape, and the infamous video will run 24/7 on a special channel within the hotel. Names for the other two Paris hotels have not been determined yet.
There have been rumors that the company will open a new line of hotels in Brittany under the Spears brand name, but Bollenbach declined comment when questioned about that.
