Domestic violence opponents across the US are pushing for legislation that would allow the victims of domestic violence to escape their abusers by cancelling leases that would otherwise trap them in a prison of pain.
The most powerful opponents of this humane legislation are the landlord associations who fear that some money may be lost if battered women are allowed to flee their abusers without financial consequences.
LOL, Landlords for Leases, spokesperson Paimy Loadz explained the rich persons' standpoint: "Do you have any idea what the cleaning bill for all that victim's blood on the walls, carpets and appliances costs?! We have to help people take personal responsibility by forcing them to stay in abusive situations so they can learn from their mistakes and clean up their own messes!"
