MENLO PARK, CA.-As young people in increasing numbers abandon Facebook for other forms of social media, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced a new campaign aimed at younger people called, simply, Like Us on Facebook. As Facebook's stocks are slumping, Zuckerberg said that something needs to be done to bring back the under-25 demographic that has fueled the popularity of Facebook over the last decade.
But not all younger people are "liking" this new campaign. Said Jared Garrell, a junior at Arizona State Community College: "Like, my parents and grandparents are now on Facebook! They're posting stuff on there all the time now. And now my Aunt Zoey wants me to friend her. I'm, like, no way, man!"
Since the Like Us on Facebook campaign began last week, the social media site has received 1,253, 079 Likes. 1,253, 072 of those Likes, however, were from people 55 and over.
