Here's a tip: If your landlord just keeps raising your rent and then does nothing to fix anything that needs repairing, go to the bank.
Make a copy of the Landlord's deed and borrow all the money against the rented house (a second mortgage). Go pack and leave on a long vacation & have the time of your life.
Of course, you'll need to check the laws of France or where ever you wind up. A tropical island would be nice.
