One day Captain Kirk was on the bridge of the U. S. S. Enterprise when all of a sudden a shock wave hit the craft. Not knowing what to do, he asked Scottie for help. They realized that the mainframe was broken and a piece of wire was needed to splice the two wires together.

Scottie, a physicist at heart was amazed as Captain Kirk explained the technical data to him. Captain Kirk finished off his monologue by saying "Scottie all we need to do is splice this last wire, then we will have a connector, scientifically known as what's the word I'm looking for?"

To which Scottie replied, "Ay conduit Captain."
