The director of 'Cats', on the third week of its début, noticed that for the first time since the show started, there was an empty seat.
During the break, he approached the lady in the next seat to the empty one and said; "I'm so sorry to bother you, but this is the first time we've had an empty seat for the show..."
The lady interjected, soberly; "Unfortunately my husband has died, so could not come to the show with me."
"Could you not have got another relative to attend with you?"
"No" she replied, "they are all at the funeral!"
