Alphonse, lying in bed poorly in the hospital, asked his doctor how much time does he have left to live.
The doctor did not want to lie to him, and bravely he told him that he would likely not make it through that night.
So the Alphonse calls his lawyer and asks him to come and sit by his bed, which he did of course charging his usual rates.
Just before Alphonse dies, the lawyer asks him why did he want him next to him.
Alphonse replied, "When Jesus died, he had a thief next to him and I want to go the same way."
