My wife Miriam Gonzalez Durantez and the US firm and I were attacked in the Commons. She gave highly paid advice to a company which I had condemned for sacking British workers.

She was hired by Kraft, the US food conglomerate, three weeks before I opened my mouth and called its takeover of Cadbury "just plain wrong!"

Kraft reneged on two promises after the deal, firstly not to cut jobs in Cadbury's Birmingham base, and also to keep open a factory that had been earmarked for closure.

Luckily. there is plenty of other stuff going on, London's Mayoral elections, pastie prices, Agrentina crisis and so on to prevent any voter from taking an interest!

Phew!
