I went along with the missus who attended the highland games at Braemar in Scotland. Making my second public appearance since being discharged from hospital last month.

People feared I would not be able to attend after I spent five nights in hospital in Aberdeen for a recurrence of a bladder infection.

I defied the cold and damp conditions on Saturday to accompany the Queen, who is patron of the games, my doctor and a surgeon were with me throughout.

The others watched a series of traditional events, including caber-tossing, hammer-throwing and the tug of war, then woke me up and off we went.
