Tariq Aziz, who for many years was the grinning international face of Iraq under the 'tyrannical monster' Saddam Hussein, has been sentenced to death by the Iraqi Supreme Court.
He was convicted in connection with the persecution of religious parties, a statement from the court said.
Aziz, 74, served as foreign minister and deputy prime minister and was a close adviser to Saddam Hussein.
He was regularly seen on TV screens before, during and after the Iraq War, and has always staunchly defended Saddam Hussein, who he said, "always served his country".
Mr Aziz, who, ironically, has spent his time in jail practising tying knots, is thought to be seriously ill, but he's going to get a lot more ill very soon, when they put that rope around his neck, and give it a little tug to make sure it won't come loose.
Mr Aziz isn't a very nice mister.
