Spanish union leaders are furious that their plans for a national strike are being hampered by the traditional afternoon siesta.
Thousands of workers walked out in protest at the austerity measures planned by the Madrid government. Britons are caught up in the chaos as flights to and from Spain are grounded.
But at 1pm the strikers promptly headed home for a couple of hours kip!
Said union leader Juan de Paella y Chips said: "Donna Maria! Ees no good - ju cannot effect de government plans like thees!
"Once de picket lines are manned, we must stay strong. I know ees necessary for de siesta after de lonch, so we are trying to work out de shift system."
