DILLY-DALLY, INDIA: The Common Waste Games plunged further into jeopardy. Athletic facilities were deemed to be filthy, unclean and unhygienic prompting the following riposte from the India Minister for Talking Rubbish:
"Western nations have different perceptions of cleanliness than Indians do"
Well duh...Damn right...can the idiot minister explain how having piles of shit all over the place qualifies as Indian cleanliness? Does he follow the same level of cleanliness in his house?
If that don't beat all.... following the collapse of a major connecting bridge - no doubt built with sand-filled 'concrete' by a dubious firm, India's response to this emergency has been to .... blacklist the firm! Oh goody - that really takes care of things doesn't it?
Then there was the shameful slap in the face from international games chiefs - the same honchos who gave a ringing endorsement a few days ago, only to do a 180 degree turn today???? Something is rotten in the upper echelons.
Visiting athletes are appalled by the filth, excrement, lack of hygiene and other typical Indian welcomes being given to them. Appears workers building the venues have been dumping in the athletes apartment toilets - despite no plumbing in place.
Imagine the horror!
Not to worry said India's Minister for Spreading Corruption and Buying Votes, - it will happen, it will happen. These games will be bigger and better than the Olympics
Ho boy! Less than 14 days to go & the spinning is getting more furious. Time to admit the truth: the Common Waste Shames are as dead as the notion of the equally dead colonial leftover: The Commonwealth.
Even slum-dogs are slinking away in embarrassment.
