Japanese scientists researching in the Pacific Ocean were astounded as land suddenly rose out of the ocean about half a mile in front of their boat. The men from the land of the rising sun were not expecting to see the sea with the rising land.
The land which has been created by volcanic eruption is roughly about a mile all round and is now the subject of a dispute.
President Obama has said "This land is your land and will be part of the USA" but this has been immediately disputed by Gordon Brown who wants to claim this land as British territory
and this time we wont have to kill anybody to get it.
There does not seem to be any clear law regarding new land that suddenly appears and what nation if any has the right to claim it.
