OSLO, NORWAY Desperately seizing upon an idea initially proposed by an on-line initiative began by avid but seriously deluded Michael Jackson fans, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin finally revealed her true reasoning behind her resignation and her plans for the future.

Palin officially launched her own website aimed at securing a Nobel Prize in Literature today after learning of the website dedicated to securing enough signatures to convince the Nobel committee to award the Nobel Peace Prize to Jackson posthumously.

The Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded since 1901 to an author from any country who has, in the words from the will of Alfred Nobel, produced "in the field of literature the most outstanding work in an ideal direction". The Swedish Academy decides who, if anyone, will receive the prize in any given year and announces the name of the chosen laureate in early October.

Palin was greatly encouraged in her artistic endeavor when Conan O'Brien repeatedly featured William Shatner reciting both her poetry and prose on "The Tonight Show".

The failed vice-presidential candidate and governor was said to be very optimistic about her chances to take home the prize and commented she could really use the money for her legal bills.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
