In a widely distributed Papal Encyclical, Papa Benedict the Sixteenth has reinforced the controversial economic justice prophecy of the last 150 years of Catholic social teaching, despite the fact that it drives rich Roman catholic free marketers bonkers. The clear and consistent message of the popes since 19th century Leo the Thirteenth has been that capitalism needs strong controls that protect the poor and distribute wealth to insure the dignity of all over and against the liberty sought by the capitalist rich and their political allies.
The one concession Benedict and his predecessors have made to the conservative Catholic crowd has been to exclude women and the gay community from this otherwise inclusive economic Magna Carta. Since the rights to reproduction can never been entrusted to womankind, they are still shackled to a feudal system of economic dependency and since being gay is still deemed objectively disordered all means and manner of economic discrimination continues to be endorsed by the Vatican.
