Jamie Oliver is said to be "well up fer it" after Downing Street announced that Gordon Brown is planning to take Barack Obama to his restaurant 15, when he comes to the UK for the G20 Summit.
It is thought that security teams visited the restaurant, which gives opportunities to teenagers from high security prisons, last week and gave it the all clear.
A spokesman for the restaurant announced "Jamie is very excited and planning the menu as we speak." When asked what the President would be eating, he hinted that it was likely to include "lots of fresh unwashed organic vegetables, dumped on a big plate and drizzled with olive oil"
In a press conference yesterday, Downing Street would not confirm rumours that Oliver's restaurant was, in fact, only Brown's third choice after Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck Restaurant was closed due to a mystery contamination, and Gordon Ramsay's suppliers refused to supply him because of an "unpaid pork bill."
Oliver was unavailable for comment yesterday because he was "playing his drums in his shed", but a close friend told reporters "Obviously Jamie is delighted, but he's gutted for Heston and Gordon. They are very good friends and he likes to help them all he can. Just a couple of weeks ago he did a bit of cooking with Heston in the Fat Duck kitchen, and he's been giving Gordon a hand with his accounts for months."
