Cancer, the terrible disease that has taken hold of the Big Brother 'star' Jade Goody, is this morning reported to be a risk for millions of other sufferers worldwide, many of whom will also die.
Cancer can affect people of all ages, but the risk for most cancers increases with age. It causes about 13% of all deaths. According to the American Cancer Society, 7.6 million people died from cancer in the world during 2007. Animals can also die of cancer.
Miss Goody suffers from cervical cancer, and is expected to live only a few more months, but there are many forms of the disease, and they can be just as fatal.
The only difference between Goody's cancer and those of millions of other sufferers worldwide, is that theirs are killing people who have not necessarily embarrassed themselves on TV, or expressed racist viewpoints in front of millions of viewers, some of whom will undoubtedly be amongst those people now waiting to die from cancer.
They won't have sold their stories to the News Of The World though.
