Robert Mugabe's cover for an escape from strife torn Zimbabwe was blown yesterday following the accidental release of a photo of his alter ego Jessie Kanobe a travelling Elton John impersonator.

Sources from inside the government say Mugabe is devastated about the slip up having created the Kanobe persona himself during a moment of inspiration.

"We spent a long long time in his office discussing a plan on how to get him out of the country in case of trouble" claimed an insider "when all of a sudden he appeared from behind a cupboard wearing the glasses and singing "I'm Still Standing"

Mugabe then set to perfecting his new persona often turning up to cabernet meetings in character.

"He used to come into his office covered in feathers and start dancing around the room" a witness said "then he'd sign a few death warrants and go back to piano practice.

Another plan for escape has been plotted with Mugabe poised this time to go under the guise of former eighties phenomenum "Shakin Stevens"

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
